Neda Agha Sultan – The Iranian Woman Shot Dead – The new Symbol of Rebellion
People call her by different names. She is known by names such as Neda Agha Sultan, Neda Sultan, Neda Soltani, Neda Agha Soltan, Neda Agha Sultan, Neda Iran. Whatever it is, she’s the woman who was shot a few days ago while attending a demonstration/protest in Iran.
Neda Agha Sultan was believed to have been shot by a member of a pro-government Basij militia during a protest in Iran. Although there is no confirmation for this, she is becoming the battlecry and the new symbol for the Iranian protesters.
Even if the Iranian government has been filtering the internet and other websites including Facebook, a video showing the last few seconds of Neda’s life was caught by an amateur video and was quickly uploaded to the internet where the international community got a first hand, unedited look at what happened to the girl.
The government is now feeling the pressure to recount the votes of the widely disputed elections.
