Eventually I saw one that seems to be good carpet cleaners (http://www.thesteamteam.com/). I think I heard about them before. Probably I saw some review or a blog post somewhere. I noticed that they also do other sorts of cleaning and pet odor treament.

I don’t own a dog so definitely my car isn’t soiled with dog hairs and dog smells. But it’s nice to know that they can also handle it when needed.

At least I don’t have to mess around with my car carpet. It’s nice to be able to delegate such tasks to somebody else. Well, I could be cheap and do it myself but I suppose my results would not be as great as the pros. Plus I don’t clean my auto carpet that often so, I think paying somebody to do it would be a better so I can just more time with my family.

Typically this happens when a homeowner uses the same home to have a 2nd or 3rd mortgage coupled with the value of the property going down. I guess this would mean there will be a lot of foreclosures in San Diego in the next coming months.

My husband is a captain in the Air Force and we found out last week that he will be stationed at Shepard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. When we got married, I knew that we would be stationed at different bases in the United States and I was fully prepared to be an army wife. However, I am totally unfamiliar with Texas, so I’ve already started to try to figure out how to set up our utilities once we get there. We were initially weighing the pros and cons of having it professionally cleaned and here’s some of our thoughts.

1. Deep cleaning

I think DIY carpet cleaning doesn’t really go down and get all those dirt and disease carrying bugs and all that. It adds some peace of mind knowing that our carpet is really clean.

2. Brand New look

With a professional cleaning service, stubborn stains can be removed leaving us with a “restored” look or even a “brand new” look which adds value to our property.

3. Knowledge of Different carpet types

Professional cleaners have the knowledge of different carpet types and they know how to deal with each type and each kind of cleaning method suitable for that carpet.

So in the end, even though we’ll have to spend some money on this, I think it’s really worth it. I probably wont’ do it again next year to save a few buck but since our carpet is already 5 years old, I think it deserves some love for the professionals.

A lot of Filipinos are now trying to have their flooded cars repaired. Because of typhoon Ondoy and Pepang, a lot of car owners find their cars submerged in water. Some are thinking about the huge costs of getting their cars in proper working order.

Most car dealers (CASA) are now full of cars waiting to be repaired. In some cases, it will take a few weeks to a month or so of waiting time. Moreover, the cost of having your car repaired is huge. It is sometimes better to have your local auto repair shop (”talyer”) do the repairs, however, in most cases, they are also full. But then again, the costs of repairs is
would still set you back a couple of thousand pesos specially if your computer box is damaged.

Here’s a guy who tried his hands on repairing his flood damaged car. I was a member of a Toyota Revo yahoo group and I came across his post with a procedure on how he did it.

Disclaimer: I am not a mechanic or knowledgeable in auto repair. Proceed at your own risk. As I mentioned, I just found this procedure in a Toyota Revo egroup and hopefully some of you might find it helpful.

Lumubog po ang revo ko lampas steering wheel. I just revived my Revo 2003 SR AT on my own. Ako nalang din po ang nag detail. chagaan lang. baklas lahat pati dash board. Sobra kasing tagal ang waiting sa casa.

Eto po mga ginawa ko: Lakasan lang po ng loob tutal sa casa din naman po ang bagsak kung nde mag work sa inyo. ganun din ang gastos. pero kung gumana malaki po matitipid nyo.lalu na sa waiting time.

Make sure na nalinis nyo na yun Revo nyo at tuyo na lahat ng electrical lalu na yun fuse box, relays igniter and distributor.

1. Drain/Change Oil

Regular oil muna gamitin nyo kasi i de drain ulit yan. after nyo mapa andar. Saka nalang ulit kayo gumamit ng magandang klaseng engine oil on the 2nd change oil. (mga after a day)

2. Clean the computer box kung nabasa.
I used a contact cleaner (mabibili sa handyman or sa ace hardware). Binuksan ko po yun computer box ko at pina grind yun rivets para ma detatch yun board. Then spray nyo po with contact cleaner while brushing gently with a used toothbrush. Patuyuin then i kabit ulit.

3. Drain and change Transmision Fluid

4. Drain and pull down the gas tank.

Binaba ko po yun gas tank ko. Drained and took out the fuel pump and float but be gentle. lubog nyo lang ulit yun fuel pump sa gasolina while cleaning the gas tank. Wag nyo po hayaan matuyo yung parang tela na filter sa fuel pump. baka po kasi rumupok, (Halos isang tabo po ng tubig at putik ang lumabas sa gas tank ko).

I cleaned and wiped dry yun loob po ng gas tank ko.

5. Unscrew yun intake and return fuel lines at tapatan nyo po ng malakas na blower or compressor para lumabas pa yun tubig sa linya.

6. Change fuel filter. — 180 PHP sa local auto supply.

7. Change or Wash your air filter.180 PHP sa local auto supply — 1000+ po yun orig sa casa

8. Replace nyo na yun fuel pump and float sa gastank at mount na ulit yun gas tank

9. Lagyan na ulit ng malinis na Gasolina

10. before re-attaching the intake and return fuel lines, bleed nyo muna by just turning the key to “on” — dapat po mag pa-pump ng gas at makikita nyo pong lumalabas sa fuel lines ang gasolina.

11. re-attach nyo na po yun fuel lines at higpitan.

12. check nyo po kung pag on nyo ng key ay umiilaw yun “check engine” — one indication that the computer box is working

13. check nyo po kuing may kuryente na pumapasok sa spark plugs — bunutin nyo lang po yun HTW at saksakan ng screw driver. hold it close to any metal part of the engine and try cranking it. dapat po may tumatalon na spark from screw driver. — this is another indication that the computer box is working..

14. make sure na wala nang tubig yun loob ng makina. remove nyo po yun spark plug (one at a time) then crank the engine.. sisirit po yun tubig mula sa pinag kakabitan ng spark plugs.

15. Make sure na tuyo na yun loob ng engine through the spark plugh hole on the cylinder head.

16. clean your spark plugg and igniter.

17 re-attach yer spark plugs and HTW

18. make sure every thing is securely attached

19. Crank yer engine.

20 Vrooooommm.. . wag nyo po i revolution agad ng malakas. antayin nyo muna umakyat ang langis.

Eto po ang ginawa ko at naka tipid po ako ng malaki., 20K po ang hinihingi ng toyota para mapaandar with detailing. Wala pa po yun mga papalitan na pyesa at towing fee.

Sa toyota bicutan po 270 ang naka parada. nasa 50+ na din po ang nasa waiting list (as of Oct 7) kung kailan sila i-aadvise kung pwede na nila hatakin yun oto nila papunta sa casa.

6,100 PHP po ang computer box ng 7K-E AT (40% off na po yan) may waiting pa pong up to 2 months.

Yung revo ko po wang klik lang at umandar na agad ng matining.

Hope this procedure works for you too. Wag kayo mag alala. ayos pa yang mga computer box nyo

Saizen - Daiso

Saizen Philippines, popularly known in Japan as Daiso  is now in the Philippines thanks to Robinsons Retail Corporation and Daiso Sangyo Inc., Japan.

So I’ve heard a lot of praises and comments about people being excited on going into Saizen.    Sure, the store has a lot of cute stuff and “anik anik” that you’ve not seen anywhere. The price point at PHP85 here in the Philippines seems to be ok.  But technically,  100yen is about PHP50.

No offense to people who run the store or the frequent buyers from Saizen.  Me and my wife really do like the stuff there.  I love these little gadgets and new things but let me just take the other side of the road for a moment.

I went to Saizen once and saw that a lot of items are cheap, BUT not all.    I mean if you can find something  there that is worth more than PHP85 outside, then that is a really good bargain.  However,  I think there are   other items there that costs way below PHP85 outside Saizen.

If you really look into it,  PHP850  will only buy you 10 items.    Six items will already cost you PHP510. I bet some of these items will cost less in National Bookstore.  Items such as ballpens, erasers, paste, glue,  and some other stuff  I believe would cost less in other stores.  Ajay even shelled out PHP3,060 for her visit to Saizen (36 items).

Sponge for 85 pesos? shredded paper used for packaging for 85?  Banana holder that looks like some hanky panky toy?  I even found a foot scrub that says “Made in the Philippines”.   It may probably cost less in a local hbc or some local beauty store or in SM.

Some items even can be found in the nearby American PHP66 store nearby. I bought a pack of 4 AA batteries for only PHP33 in the American Store.

So the big question is……

Which items are cheap and which items costs more?

Why don’t we put our collective thoughts together and figure this out. If you’ve bought something in Saizen that costs more than PHP85 pls post a comment about it below so we’ll have a database of “What is Cheap in Saizen“.
