Earthquake strikes Petrolia California



CA-PetroliaAn earthquake was felt in Petrolia California that has a magnitude of 6.0 but it was later revised to 5.9. The quake strikes the west-northwest part of the Petrolia, which was also felt in area surrounding the Eureka County.

According to the local police, there were no reports of any property damage or injuries. Petrolia was just struck by earthquake last January 9, 2010 with a magnitude of 6.5, which resulted for some of the buildings to have damaged. The residents during that time were forced to reconstruct their houses to avoid any accidents in the future.

Petrolia Ca is known for its beautiful scenery and peaceful surrounding. They have an estimated population of 300-500 people. The place has always been struck by earthquakes and one of the strongest was felt last 1992, which has a magnitude of 7.1. It causes severe damage to almost all resident’s property. It is also the reason why their old Petrolia General store was reconstructed to a more modern structure.
