Toyota Recalles 2.3M US Vehicles To Fix Gas Pedals

ToyotaJust after recalling about 4M vehicles last year, Toyota is recalling 2.3 million more vehicles in the US to fix the accelerator pedal that could get stuck and leads to accident.

The recall affects the following models: 2009-2010 Corolla, 2005-2010 Avalon, 2007-2010 Camry, 2009-2010 RAV4,  2009-2010 Matrix, 2010 Highlander, 2007-2010 Tundra and 2008-2010 Sequoia.

The recall last year was about the accelerator pedals becoming stuck under the removable floor mats that could cause accelerators being stuck, leading to a crash. The new recall is regarding a possible problem with the actual gas pedal mechanism which may cause the accelerator to become stuck even without the floor mat.

Toyota said that the wear and tear of the gas pedal can increase the likelihood of the problem although the probable issues are rare.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a statement that the problem was a serious issue and that they are pleased for Toyota taking immediate action to address it.

  1. The Toyota recalls will be causing untold damage to their brand equity. 2.3 million vehicles in the United States to rectify sticking accelerator pedals. over 4 million motorcars in the United States to correct pedals getting lodged under floor mats. nearly 700,000 cars in China defective electrical window switches. Toyota managers on TV to apologise for recall and still the media stress problems as the company gets more tormented. I question how much brand value this has cost the company.
