San Diego and Orange County: Tornado Warning Issued

California StormNational Weather Service issued a rare tornado warning in LA as storm crashed into southern California.

The storm brought heavy rains and snow across the region, leaving many homes no power.

The alerts were issued in different parts of California. National Weather Service Ryan Kittell said that a strong storm is moving from the Pacific through Central and Souther California bringing wind more than 60 miles per hour. “We do get them from time to time but they are pretty rare,” he added.

LA County firefighters have reported minor flooding but there is no major damage or injury. Different authorities have been stationed on affected areas to monitor possible mudslides and flashfloods.

The authorities recommended that people seek the best place to hide during a tornado. The basement is the best location. If there is no basement in the building, people shelter on the lowest floor as much as possible, and within a hallway or a room. Covering or wrapping a blanket or pillow will help you protect from injuries. Stay away from windows as well.

The warnings have been canceled in LA by National Weather Service at around 12:30 pm but San Diego and Orange Counties are still on alert.
