
It is a sad day for R&B industry as the legendary Teddy Pendergrass passed away this morning at the age of 59 at Bryn Mawr Hospital.
Eight months ago, Pendergrass Sr. underwent a treatment for a rare condition that was related to his paralysis condition but had a difficult recovery, told Pendergrass II in an interview.
Pendergrass was involved in a car accident in 1982 when the brakes of his Rolls Royce failed. He was seriously injured on his spinal cord after hitting a tree which caused paralysis on lower body to be paralyzed.
Pendergrass first rose to fame as lead singer of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes in the 1970s before embarking on a successful solo career at the end of the decade. After being bedridden in 6 months after the car accident, he returned to recording the next year with the album “Love Language.”
He released singles like “I Don’t Love You Anymore” and “The Whole Towns Laughing At Me”.
