Shiloh Pepin, a little with with a very rare congenital deformity called Sirenomelia, which is found in about 1:100,000 live births. Popularly known as mermaid syndrome, this congenital deformity is described as a deformity where the two legs of the child are fused together making it look like a mermaid’s tail.

Mermaid Girl Shiloh Pepin became famous due to a recent documentary was made about Sirenomelia. Popularly called the ‘Little Mermaid Girl’, she was born in Kennebunkport, Maine in August, 1999, with her lower extremities fused, a missing bladder, uterus, colon and vagina, with only one partial kidney and one ovary.

Shiloh Pepin is only one of three surviving sirenomelia (mermaid syndrome) patients who do not have the usual kidney and bladder complications.
